Yakatabune (Japanese pleasure boats) offer the perfect journey for anyone seeking to experience traditional Japanese culture. Furnished with traditional elements such as tatami (straw mats) and paper lanterns, the main attraction of these boats is an evening of beautiful nightscapes and an authentic full-course Japanese meal made with seasonal ingredients.
You might be surprised to find you can cruise on a yakatabune in Urayasu, the city famous for being home to the world-famous theme park we all know. What you may not know is that Urayasu was once a thriving fishing village, making it the perfect place to host a trip full of amazing cuisine and scenery.
A special event will also be held in October 2023. The event will feature an ohayashi instrumental ensemble, a type of traditional Japanese music designated as an Uray-asu City Intangible Folk Cultural Property. An ensemble comprised of members of the Urayasu Ohayashi Preservation Society will play inside the yakatabune. Spend an evening relishing the beautiful sounds of the ohayashi ensemble up close, in addition to the food and scenery.
